Job Description: Manager
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Canadian Cancer Society, Ottawa, National office
POSITION TITLE: Manager, 28 hours/week (one year contract)
REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of
Canada
SALARY LEVEL: $37,000 to 42,000, prorated annual salary
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Provides support, primarily to the Executive Director and the working
groups. Duties include:
Project Management
* Manage projects to support CDPAC, focusing on two project areas:
translating knowledge into practical policy options and communications to
internal and external audiences
* Conduct research, analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation
* Establish and maintain relationships with external organizations and
internal stakeholders
* Provide advice and support, as requested and as appropriate to
Provincial/Territorial Alliances and national members and active
participants
Communication
* Write and develop communication and promotional products such as
newsletters, updates and web site information for Members, Active
Participants and Subscribers
* Facilitate e-discussion forums with groups of members and active
participants when required
* Conduct searches for information and synthesize results into formal and
informal reports to support effective decision-making
* Prepare and edit briefing materials, draft reports and/or presentations to
support internal and external communications
* Serve as web manager to ensure effective, timely accurate web site content
for assigned area
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Post-graduate degree in related health area and/or several years
experience (or equivalent) in Public Health or Health Promotion or Health
Education
* Proven ability to liaise with a large group of diverse stakeholders with
multiple needs
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially writing and
editing skills for all media and audiences
* Superior computer skills including web-based applications
* Written and verbal fluency in English and French
* Non-smoker
