Just a reminder that if you are in the Toronto area, The Self-Help Resource
Centre, a United Way agency, is hosting a half-day workshop: Building
Partnerships: A Self-Help Model for Building Partnerships between Agencies &
Communities, with Roya Rabbani, ED of the SHRC> 

 

Who can benefit: agency staff, community leaders, community members and
anyone interested in working together to build community partnerships. 

 

The purpose of this workshop is to assist you in building partnerships
between various groups by focusing on your common interests. In this
workshop the participants will learn how to partner with other
organizations, local agencies and community members. Participants will learn


 

-Definition of community-based partnerships 

 

-The benefits of partnerships

 

-Parameters of a successful partnership and the barriers to building one.  

 

-Practical group work including a Partnership Map which can be used as a
blue print for future partnership building. 

 

Roya Rabbani is the Self-Help Resource Centre's Executive Director. She has
utilized the self-help/mutual aid methods to build partnership among various
agencies in developing innovative projects, such as Diversify the Source,
Mutually Ours and Empowering Stroke Prevention Project. Roya has worked with
diverse communities in Canada, Jamaica, Brazil, Pakistan, and Iran. She has
a B.Sc. from University of Guelph and a MSW with specialty in community
development and planning from Wilfred Laurier. 

 

When: Thursday, September 28, 1 to 4 pm.  The $15 registration fee includes
materials and refreshments. 

 

Enrollment is limited to 20 people. Please register early to avoid
disappointment.
