The Calgary Health Region has had a ban on smoking on Region property
since 2002. While compliance inside the buildings is good, we have
on-going problems with people (patients, visitors and staff) smoking
just outside the hospitals. We are planning to run a survey project
this summer to get feedback from smokers as to why they are still
smoking on hospital grounds and what they think it would take to get
people to comply with the smoke-free policy.
Is anyone aware of this kind of study being done elsewhere? So far, my
literature scan has turned up information about implementing smoke-free
policies, but nothing about approaches to improve compliance with an
existing policy.
Thanks.
Nancy
