Hi Alison & Caroline - Health Evidence (http://www.health-evidence.ca/) is a
portal for health promotion and public health review level evidence.
We are a Canadian service and research organization located at McMaster
University, Hamilton, aimed at assisting public health decision makers in
their use of research evidence. Health Evidence offers a suite of services
to support the development of knowledge, skill and culture for
evidence-informed decision making. Launched in 2005, a key resource, the
www.health-evidence.ca registry of systematic reviews, provides free,
user-friendly access to a searchable database of public health relevant,
quality-appraised reviews. Tailored capacity assessments for
evidence-informed decision making, workshops and presentations on
evidence-informed decision making ëhow toí, and Knowledge Broker services to
mentor individuals/teams/organizations are available to support
incorporation of evidence into practice.
Contact me if you have any questions or if you'd like more info.

Subject: Re: Looking for key/essential resource on HP
Hello,
Health Nexus is also redesigning our website, and we will continue to
highlight our health promotion resources - specifically:
* 25 key health promotion resources
http://www.healthnexus.ca/events/25th_anniversary/august.html
* Health Promotion Primer
http://www.healthnexus.ca/our_programs/hprc/hp_primer.html - and
* Starting Out in Health Promotion
http://www.healthnexus.ca/our_programs/hprc/pdf/Starting_Out_in_Health_Promo
tion.pdf
* 10 key 'info sheets' or FAQs on HP and determinants of health
http://www.healthnexus.ca/our_programs/hprc/intro_sheets.html , including
* "What skills do I need for health promotion?"
http://www.healthnexus.ca/our_programs/hprc/healthpromoter.html
For databases and Portals - the Canadian Best Practices Portal for Health
Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention http://www.phac.gc.ca/cbpp is one
of your best first stops for resources and interventions, as well as finding
the website that meets your needs for planning and implementing health
promotion
We continue to recommend the HP101 http://www.thcu.ca/hp101/eng/main.cfm
and expect to see content updated on it over the next few months.

Subject: [CLICK4HP] Looking for key/essential resource on HP
Hi everyone,
Our organization (the Health Promotion Clearinghouse) is in the process of
redesigning our website. Our mission is "supporting Nova Scotia's health
promoters to foster healthy people and healthy communities".
I am looking for any suggestions you may have as to key/essential resources
related to health promotion for our "Key Online Resources" page.
More specifically, I am looking for:
- Online Courses
- Databases and Portals
- Other Tools
- Health Promotion Basics (e.g. definitions and concepts, determinants of
health, etc.)
I am aware of HP 101 (OHPRS) developed in 2005. Is it still as relevant as
it was? Is anyone aware of similar more recent resources?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I will collect your responses and
send you a compilation once completed.
Many thanks,
Caroline
