Have not read the article either.

A new survey suggests that members of online health information and
support groups for medical conditions rate their online communities as
significantly more helpful than either specialist or primary care
doctors
in nine of 12 aspects of healthcare.
Online information is obviously useful to consumers. On the other
hand, a recent study, indicated that only 50% thought that Internet
consumer/patient information seeking was useful in disease
management.
