Join us to hear Dr. Kazanjian
present her recently completed gender analysis of the BC Linked Health Data,
a new provincial resource for health data. The hypothesis tested was that
differences in women’s and men’s family-related roles are manifested
in patterns of health care utilization. 97,840 individuals formed the study
sample. Data on coronary heart disease and depression were studied to
determine if any differences might be explained by sex, family structure,
socio-economic status and incidence of disease, in relation to gender
differences.
This study aims to quantify the relevance of gender as a deter-minant of
health services utilization.
