The National Collaborating Centre for Healthy Public Policy (NCCHPP) will
be part of 3 different workshops on Tuesday April 3rd 2012 at The Ontario
Public Health Convention (TOPHC). The Conference will take place in
Toronto from April 2nd to 4th 2012.

Florence Morestin will introduce the NCCHPP?s method for synthesizing
knowledge about public policies. Producing Knowledge Syntheses that are
Both Rigorous and Relevant to Policy-Makers is a workshop for public
health practitioners who deal with public policies in the context of their
work. For a workshop description, see page 23 of the Tuesday program on
the TOPHC website.

François-Pierre Gauvin will represent the NCCHPP with Public Health
Ontario?s Don Willison. Their interactive workshop, Exploring Public
Engagement Models for Public Health Policy-Making in Ontario, will
examine methods of public engagement, specifically citizen?s panels, to
meaningfully inform complex and even controversial population health
issues and policies.
For a workshop description, see page 7 of the Tuesday program on the TOPHC
website.

A third workshop will be presented by the NCCMT in collaboration with the
NCCHPP, represented by François-Pierre Gauvin. They will use a
problem-based learning approach to introduce the concept of wicked
problems in public health. The session will explore how the contributions
of an evidence-informed public health (EIPH) approach combined with
deliberative processes can be a successful strategy to work through
complex public health situations. The title of this workshop is Wicked but
Real: Dealing with Complex Public Health Issues Using an Evidence-Informed
Approach. For a workshop description, see page 25 of the Tuesday program
on the TOPHC website.
