One tack that you could take is to argue that the health conceptualisation
underlying the determinants of health is born of a primarily behavioural
framework and, as such, predisposes us Canadians to trying to fit
behavioural methods and programs (square pegs) into social and environmental
problem solutions (round holes). Its not "dependence" but it gives you a
way of thinking about it that will lead to some interesting literature.

Subject: negative effects of HP
Hi everyone, I'm an MHSc in Health Promotion student trying to obtain
some information.... and hoping someone can help.
Can anyone refer me to any literature or resources which addresses the
harmful side effects of health promotion programs or to state it another
way, how individuals may become dependent on certain health promotion
programs. There is plenty of information out there which addresses
dependency on social service programs such as welfare, but I'm trying to
focus more on HP or other types of programs which address the
determinants of health.
Thanks for you help,
Jennifer Bodnaruk
