In response to Denis' plea for health promoters to
take action reagarding health inequities, and I
would add social justice and systems to address
the determinants of health, may I suggest the
Ontario Public Health Association, through the
Determinants of Health Workgroup? This group has
a mission to raise the profile of the determinants
of health in the public health sphere - we need
more warm blood.
One project in which we are involved is the Making
a Difference project profiled on this listserv
last summer. This project is planning a
commuication campaign targeting to the adult the
public in ONtario about the broader determinants
of health. If you are interested in joining the
workgroup (which I chair) respond to me directly.
You do not have to be a member of the OPHA to
participate. Lorraine Telford
