* Due to the overwhelming response to this workshop, we have made
adjustments to accommodate the high number of attendees.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide a brief introduction to the Circle
of Health and how it can help you in your work, whether it be in the
community, with families or individuals. The workshop will provide examples
of how to use the Circle of Health in various contexts, identify resources
to support professors and students, and give information on our series of
online training workshops.
WHAT IS THE CIRCLE OF HEALTH?
The Circle of Health provides a complete picture of the components of health
promotion at a glance. Appealing to academics, community members, policy
makers and others who are working with individuals, families and communities
to promote health and well being, the Circle of Health is a framework and a
tool for education, planning and collaboration.
The Circle of Health has been used in many post-secondary programs,
including nursing, community health, psychology, social work and
pharmacology. In practice, it is used by health authorities, community
groups, governments, businesses and aboriginal groups as a framework and a
tool for collaboration, teaching, planning and evaluation.
WHAT IS THE EDUCATOR'S PACKAGE?
We are pleased to announce the creation of an Educator's Package for the
Circle of Health, which will be made available free of charge to all
professors who place a classroom-sized order of the Circle of Health. The

"The Circle of Health is a combination of what health promotion has been
trying to put across to professionals for years. It is easy to use and very
practical in any setting".
(UK Review, 2004)
"The Circle of Health takes a holistic and comprehensive approach to health
promotion. It has a great visual depiction of health, the Ottawa Charter
strategies for health promotion, determinants of health, and values and
beliefs inherent in health promotion. With the current trend in health care
seeming to move from hospital based, curative care, to health promotion and
illness prevention, this framework has great potential for implementation at
a national level."
