2012 recipient of 3M Health Leadership Award announced
Award highlights diverse approaches to improving community health
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2012 - Health Nexus and 3M Canada are pleased to announce that Noor Din, founder of Human Endeavour is the 2012 recipient of the 3M Health Leadership Award.

Now in its second year, the 3M Health Leadership Award honours the outstanding range of leaders who have a significant impact on the health of their community in Canada. These leaders demonstrate an ability to create change and inspire others with the goal of improving the health of their community by addressing the social and economic factors that influence well-being.

Noor Din is the founder of the non-profit Human Endeavour, an organization which harnesses partnerships and social enterprise models to meet community needs. His passion for innovation and creativity has helped to grow and sustain employment and seniors support programs which reach hundreds of people across the Greater Toronto Area, many of them from the city's diverse ethno-racial communities.

"Noor Din is such an important leader within his community. His approaches were not only innovative but they also were specifically tailored to the needs of his community and have been replicated elsewhere," says Pat Small, Community Manger at 3M Canada.

The 2012 finalists are similarly accomplished. They include: Jackie Bajus, Christopher Morgan, Baldev Mutta, and Vicki Van Wagner.

"What stands out about this year's winners is their ability to engage stakeholders on a variety of projects, and their strong commitment to reduce health inequities" says Barb Willet, Executive Director of Health Nexus. "Each one has worked tirelessly for many years, to address critical issues facing their communities. We are thrilled to celebrate with these leaders and applaud their outstanding efforts."

Research confirms the strong link between our health, and the opportunities to work, play, learn and contribute to our community. The 2012 recipient and finalists of the 3M Health Leadership Award are champions of change and exemplify the breadth and scope of what it takes to create these conditions for health. By recognizing these leaders, Health Nexus and 3M Canada hope to inspire others across the country.

The 2012 recipient and finalists will be celebrated at the Award Gala on December 6th, 2012 in Toronto, Ontario. Registration for the Gala is now open.
