ALBERTA CENTRE FOR ACTIVE LIVING
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY @ WORK WEBSITE: NEW EXERCISE VIDEO FOR YOUR HANDS AND
WRISTS
http://www.centre4activeliving.ca/workplace/trr/tools/hands_atdesk.html

We often use our hands and wrists while we are at our desks, especially when
we use computers. When we keep making the same movements, we could strain or
even injure our hands and wrists. This five-minute video (the latest
addition to the Physical Activity @ Work website)  will help keep your hands
and wrists strong and flexible.

b. ALBERTA WINTERACTIVE INITIATIVES
- Winter Walk Day – February 6, 2008
Safe, Healthy, Active People Everywhere (SHAPE) and your local Be Fit For
Life Centre are sponsoring the WinterActive winter walk. They hope to
encourage schools, community groups, work groups and individuals to walk on
February 6 and count themselves in!
Pre-register at http://www.shapeab.com and a package full of ideas and tips
will be sent to you (as well as a participant award for everyone in your
school who walks).

- Healthy Active School Communities – Winter Edition
This resource provides information about promoting healthy, active
lifestyles in the home, school and community.  Challenge students to lead
active and healthy lifestyles. Download this and other Healthy Active School
Communities resources in English and French from http://www.everactive.org.

- Partner with your Pooch
As obesity levels in pets continue to be a health issue, we hope that your
dogs will join us on the Winter Walk Day.  Encourage your friends and family
to walk their dog as a healthy physical activity!  If you don’t have a dog,
borrow a neighbour’s or better yet, invite your neighbour to join you for a
walk.  For a Canadian study on dog walking as a way to increase physical
activity, visit www.activekidsns.ca/article29.cfm.
