SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE : Evaluation of Knowledge Mobilization for Older Adults in the Community
The Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and the Institute for Life Course and Aging, University of Toronto, are seeking applicants for a Senior Research Associate position to start immediately.
The successful candidate will take the lead in various aspects of the SSHRC-funded project, Engaged Scholarship: Evaluation of Knowledge Mobilization for Older Adults in the Community.
Working closely with the Principal Investigator, co-investigators, and community partners, the Senior Research Associate will be responsible for: Contributing to the project's theoretical and methodological conceptualization; planning and managing quantitative and qualitative research; liaising with academics and community partners nationally and internationally; hiring and managing research staff; providing leadership to the research team; developing the student mentorship program; authoring papers for publication in academic journals; preparing and delivering conference and public presentations; planning project events such as team meetings and conferences; developing non-academic project outputs such as community presentations; and authoring and managing further grants.
The position of Senior Research Associate requires knowledge of gerontology and knowledge transfer; experience in leading large research teams, competence in quantitative research methodologies and analyses, significant financial management experience and proficiency in the management of national and international projects. Experience with IT would be an asset given the nature of the digital tools.
It is essential that the candidate have previous experience in the use of research designs such as surveys, random clinical trials and in-depth interviewing as mechanisms of evaluation and their links to the creation of social policy.
The Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work pursues excellence in the development and testing of new knowledge that will have an impact on social policy and social work practice at all levels, as well as social work education. Qualifications: A PhD in the social sciences or related field; experience leading, designing and managing large research studies; demonstrated ability to attract external research funding; experience with business and community partners and a demonstrated interest in gerontology.
Starting immediately, this is a one year renewable position up to a 6 year maximum, salary + benefits commensurate with experience.
