Registration is now live for the 6th Global Forum on Health Promotion, taking place
October 16-17, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Visit www.globalforumpei-

The theme for the two-day event is Health Promotion ~ At the Very Heart of Sustainability.
The event will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion
and highlight the contributions of civil society and health promotion initiatives to
sustainable development. The 6th Global Forum will be presented in Canada’s two official
languages, with simultaneous translation available in French and English.
The Forum presents a unique opportunity to learn from and connect with international
health promotion leaders. The event will bring together policymakers, government leaders,
NGOs, researchers, educators, health promotion and public health professionals,
community health leaders and experts across all sectors working to promote health, equity
and sustainability. Preliminary program details are now available online and will be updated
further in the coming weeks.
The 6th Global Forum on Health Promotion will highlight the ways in which Health
Promotion and Civil Society can contribute to the achievement of the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals. These 17 goals were adopted by world leaders during the
United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in 2015 as a means to end poverty, fight
inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030. In this period of global
transition, health promotion is integral to creating the new sustainability paradigm. The
Forum will focus on how health promotion activities can support the achievement of the
Sustainable Development Goals over the next 14 years, revealing how communities and
organizations around the world are creating change for local, national and global impact.
The 6th Global Forum on Health Promotion is hosted and co-organized by the Government
of Prince Edward Island in partnership with the Alliance for Health Promotion (Geneva,
Switzerland), The Quaich Inc. (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) and Groupe

Le thème du 6e Forum mondial sur la promotion de la santé est La promotion de la santé ~
au cœur même de la durabilité. Il a été choisi pour souligner le 30e anniversaire de la
Charte d’Ottawa et faire valoir l’incidence des initiatives de la société civile en matière de
promotion de la santé sur le développement durable. L’événement se déroulera dans les
deux langues officielles du Canada, et des services d’interprétation simultanée en français
et en anglais seront offerts.
Le Forum offre une occasion unique d’apprendre au contact de chefs de file de la
promotion de la santé à l’échelle mondiale, et d’établir des liens avec eux. Il rassemblera
des décideurs, de hauts dirigeants du gouvernement, des représentants d’ONG, des
chercheurs, des professeurs, des professionnels des secteurs de la promotion de la santé
et de la santé publique, des leaders du domaine de la santé communautaire et des experts
dans différentes disciplines pour promouvoir la santé, l’équité et la durabilité. Le
programme préliminaire est maintenant en ligne, et sera mis à jour régulièrement au
courant des semaines à venir.
L’objet du 6e Forum mondial sur la promotion de la santé est de cerner les moyens par
lesquels il est possible de réorienter les efforts de promotion de la santé et les initiatives
de la société civile afin de contribuer à la réalisation des 17 objectifs de développement
durable que se sont fixés les Nations Unies. Ces objectifs ont été adoptés par des chefs de
file mondiaux réunis à l’occasion du Sommet des Nations Unies sur le développement
durable, en 2015, afin de mettre fin à la pauvreté, de lutter contre les inégalités et
l’injustice, et de faire face au changement climatique d’ici à 2030. En cette période de
transition mondiale, la promotion de la santé fait partie intégrante des efforts déployés
pour créer un nouveau paradigme de la durabilité.
Le Forum attirera l’attention sur la façon dont les activités de promotion de la santé
peuvent appuyer l’atteinte des objectifs de développement durable au cours des
14 prochaines années. Il montrera comment les collectivités et les organisations partout
dans le monde sont en train de créer le changement en vue d’une transformation aux
échelles locale, nationale et mondiale.
