Brock University invites applications to the following positions:

Youth Lifestyle Choices -
Community University Research Alliance
(YLC-CURA)

The YLC-CURA represents a strategic partnership between a number of
Community Organizations in the Niagara Region and the faculty and students
at Brock University.  The YLC-CURA is committed to developing a better
understanding of resiliency and youth lifestyle choices.

Coordinator
This is a full-time contract position until January 2003 which includes
comprehensive benefits coverage.

Reporting to the YLC-CURA Co-Directors, the Coordinator will be responsible
for coordinating and assisting with the development and implementation of
specific research projects, program evaluations, intervention development
and knowledge sharing activities.  This position will also be responsible
for budget management and staff supervision.

This position will be of interest to individuals who enjoy working
independently, carrying out all aspects of the research process and
communicating between community and academic settings.  This position
requires a graduate degree in a relevant discipline and several years
community experience.

Research Program Assistant/Database Manager
This is a one-year contract (with possibility of renewal) and includes
comprehesive benefits coverage.

The Program Assistant/Database Manager will set up and manage the existing
database, coordinate new data collection activities and attend working
group meetings as required.  The Program Assistant/Database Manager will be
responsible for assisting with data analysis and the dissemination of
research findings.

The position requires a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a relevant
discipline, which includes the completion of a research thesis.  The
position also requires experience in a research setting.  The successful
candidate must be thoroughly conversant with word processing and SPSS.

Research Coordinator
Centre for Excellence for Youth Engagement
This is a 3-year contract position which includes comprehensive benefits
coverage.

The Centre of Excellence for Youth Engagement is a National consortium of
researchers and practitioners interested in youth engagement.  The Centre
of Excellence for Youth Engagement is committed to working with youth.

Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the Research Coordinator will
coordinate foundational research studies (e.g., narrative study, focus
groups, and a longitudinal investigation of "engaged" and "unengaged"
youth); be responsible for literature reviews; supervision and training of
research assistants; maintenance and quality control of research database;
assisting with report and article preparation; and, budget monitoring.

This position requires a graduate degree in a relevant discipline with
several years experience in a research setting.  The successful candidate
will have a familiarity with and an interest in youth programs as well as
both qualitative and quantitative research methods.  This individual also
will be thoroughly conversant in qualitative and SPSS statistical packages.
