10th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH INTERNSHIP FOR HEALTH SCIENCE RESEARCHERS

A unique, intensive training opportunity for junior researchers to launch
their research careers and network internationally

Internship Focus:

*    Community health services & policy research

*    Global health issues

*    Developing research networks

*    Grantsmanship and publication skills

*    Linking with local, national, and international decision-makers

*    Working on interdisciplinary teams

*    Innovative research methods

*    Developing programs of research

*    Mentorship

 

Eligibility:

*    Graduate-prepared (minimum completed masters degree) in health
science-related disciplines

*    Focus on community health research

*    Interest in international collaboration

*    Committed to long-term research engagement and providing tangible
benefits to home community or institution 

 

Program Dates for 2011:

July 6-29: Full-time on site program in Potchefstroom, South Africa at the
North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus)

August 15-17: In home country - part-time by distance education (approx. 2
hours per day)

 

Program Fee: 

African colleagues (half package - subsidized): ZAR 12,500 (includes: lunch,
refreshments, airport shuttle, all sessions, course materials, and distance
education)

African Colleagues (full package - subsidized): ZAR 18,000 (includes:
accommodation, lunch, dinner, refreshments, airport shuttle, all sessions,
course materials, and distance education)

Other countries (full packages): USD $2,800 (includes: accommodation, lunch,
dinner, refreshments, airport shuttle, all sessions, course materials, and
distance education)

 

Please note: Travel costs (flights and personal travel) and weekend catering
(lunch and dinner) are not included in the program fee.
