The Public Health Agency of Canada’s Canadian Best Practices Portal for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (the Portal) provides users with evidence-based best practice interventions to help public health practitioners make positive changes to a variety of health related issues within various communities.

The Portal aims to provide interventions addressing specific health concerns that may arise within groups ranging from seniors, youths, Aboriginal cultures, LGBTT2IQQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, 2-spirit, Intersex, Queer and Questioning) communities and more

Recently, fifteen effectively evaluated, evidence-based interventions for LGBTT2IQQ communities were added on to the Portal.
Ideal components of these programs include the involvement of LGBTT2IQQ people, an understanding and integration of relevant cultural components, a focus on creating supportive environments and finally a variety of opportunities and safe spaces for social networking and support.
The 15 new interventions cover the following categories:

      · Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender Youth Initiatives
      · General LGBT Smoking Prevention Programs
      · Elderly Gay and Lesbian People
      · Support for Trans, Transgender, and Transsexual Communities
      · Gay, Bisexual, Queer and Other Men Who Have Sex with Men
      · Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer and Other Women Who Have Sex With Women
      · Healthcare Provider Training
