* The Great Divide: Understanding and Eliminating Health Disparities
December 12-13, 2000, Raleigh NC
This two-day conference will focus on disparities in health services
in NC. Speakers include Carol Parks-Bani, U.S. Rep. Donna
Christian-Christensen, Therman Evans, Jack Geiger, Sherman James,
Robert Jensen, Don Lollar, Carles Muntaner, Pam Silberman, NC
Health Director Dennis McBride, and numerous NC officials.
Panels of state, local health, and community experts will detail
problems, spotlight successful programs that have reduced
health disparities, and recommend "next steps" for eliminating
health disparities in NC.

Richard Moore, Co-Founder of the Southwest Network for
Environmental and Economic Justice and the Southwest Organizing
Project, and founder and director of the Bobby Garcia Clinic in
Albuquerque, NM. We hope to present a web cast and/or satellite
broadcast of the William T. Small, Jr., Keynote Lecture (let us know

on Minority Health - June 18-22, 2001 (1:30-4:30pm EDT)

research; disentangling and assessing the relationships among race,
ethnicity, and socioeconomic status; and community-academic
