Dear colleagues and friends,
Twenty-five years ago, the first international conference on health promotion took place
in Ottawa and the Ottawa Charter was launched. This charter has definitely shaped how
we view health promotion and it has supported the creation of a multitude of training
centres and specialized publications in health promotion. The charter has been a strong
building block in the development of a field of practice still alive and very relevant today
Currently, all of you actively contribute to it .
Therefore we invite you to join us to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the
Ottawa Charter for health promotion! To mark this historic event, we are counting on
your participation to this evening of celebration where you will have an opportunity to
meet the main actors of the Ottawa Charter and listen to them:
Dr Ilona Kickbush, Dr David McQueen and Dr Irving Rootman
It is also an exceptional moment to reaffirm our commitment for a more equitable world
and to optimistically reflect on its upcoming leaders.
This gala will take place on June 29, 2011 at the National Art Gallery in Ottawa
starting at 7 p.m.
The cost of participation is $75 per person ($50 for participants to the 4e Colloque des
PLRS). The ticket price includes your meal, wine and entertainment. Reservations are

Il y a 25 ans se tenait à Ottawa, la première conférence internationale en promotion de la santé où la Charte d’Ottawa fut consacrée. Ce document a définitivement façonné la manière dont nous concevons la santé et a suscité la création de plusieurs lieux de formation et de publications spécialisées en promotion de la santé. Elle a ainsi contribué à la construction d’un champ de pratique encore bien vivant aujourd’hui et auquel vous contribuez activement. C’est pourquoi nous vous invitons chaleureusement à vous joindre à cet anniversaire des 25 ans de la création de la Charte d’Ottawa!
