MLA 2026 Call for Papers

The Mark Twain Circle is soliciting papers for MLA’s 2026 conference in
Toronto. In keeping with the President’s theme of “Family Resemblances,” we
invite papers that explore resemblances within two broad categories,
possibly using these suggestions. Other categories and topics are of course
welcome.

GENRE
autobiography, parable, Realism, gothic, travel narrative, boy books,
burlesque, parody, satire, humorous sketch
IDENTITY
dialect speech, code switching, twins, personae, masking, cross-dressing

Proposals of no more than 300 words plus a brief biography are due no later
than March 15.
Please send submissions to Jim Caron: [log in to unmask]

The Mark Twain Circle will assist with travel expenses to the conference
for participants without institutional support if they join the Circle.
