I think smoking although may not be the direct cause
of any disease, it is just a contributoiry factor for
a long list of diseases from head to foot. Most of the
cases smoking a long long practice. I does reduce the
life span significantly depending on the number and
length of practice. Japaneese live longer may be due
to better health services, better health education,
better economy, better environment and so on.
Cigarette is probably not a factor that contributes
longer life of the Japaneese.
