CLICK4HP list members might recall the series of messages in early June about the opportunity to participate in the development of the Best Practices Portal for Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention. At last, the launch of this new portal has occurred. Following is the notice that was just sent out. Please share with your networks, and on your web-news, blogs and resource listings.

The Public Health Agency of Canada launched the Canadian Best Practices Portal for Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention at the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada (CDPAC) national conference in Ottawa on November 5 - 8, 2006.
The Canadian Best Practices Portal is an online resource for decision makers in practice, policy and research. It is a virtual front door leading to an array of evidence-based best practices interventions, systematic reviews, and resources for health promotion and chronic disease prevention. The Population Health Approach is used as the organizing framework, providing you with a systematic approach to planning.
You can use the Best Practices Portal to support your work in health promotion and chronic disease prevention by:
- Using the recommended resources including links, manuals and reports.
- Visiting the selected 11 systematic review sites.
- Finding an intervention to adapt for use in your community.
You can search the best practice interventions by:
* Topic
* Population
* Setting
* Risk factor
* Determinant of health
* Language
* Population characteristic
* Gender
