To my colleagues on the Click4HP list serv,

I am a health promoter from Toronto, Canada who could use some of your
advice and help as I grow out a very personal project of mine:

I’m developing HealthyReads.com <http://healthyreads.com/>, a community for
public health practitioners to read, rank and share popular health news and
information. HealthyReads is targeted towards those who work in community
and public health and is a response to the lack of active, accessible,
engaging, and visible spaces for knowledge exchange online.

HealthyReads is a relatively low-tech solution to what I see as a major
communications problem in public health. Listservs, emails, newsletters and
organization-based social networking sites are very dominant forms of
communication in the field, but it’d be great to have something openly
available and driven for and by the community itself (people like you!). As
a public health promoter, I feel there is a great need for this sort of
digital disruption.

I am accelerating HealthyReads in an incubator program in Silicon Valley
and want to build a community that you will love being a part of. With
enough support, we can launch the beta site. If you want to help us out,
please sign up at HealthyReads.com <http://healthyreads.com/>!

I am also very open to your feedback as I realize this will be a different
and new space for public health, online.

Through this, I hope we can give public health a stronger presence in the
health sector. I look forward to growing this community with you.

Please pass this message on. Apologies for cross posts, I'm trying reach
out as much as possible!

Thank you.
