Perhaps of interest to listserv members in Canada who are mentoring
undergraduate students on research projects...

Best,
Rich

Rising Stars of Research 2010 is coming! “RSR” is the only nationwide
Undergraduate research poster competition across multiple disciplines.
The event is an outstanding opportunity for the next generation of
Canadian researchers to showcase their achievements, to foster
interdisciplinary research, to meet peers and to gain experience in a
research conference setting.

In it's third year now, Rising Stars of Research has become the most
prestigious cross-disciplinary undergraduate research conference in
Canada. The University of British Columbia is pleased to host Rising
Stars of Research 2010 from August 18-21, 2010.

Rising Stars of Research (RSR) is an exciting and unique event which
brings top undergraduate researchers from across Canada to BC to
showcase their research accomplishments and explore their passion for
innovation. All RSR events take place on the spectacular University of
British Columbia campus. The centrepiece of "RSR" is a research poster
competition and includes workshops, talks from outstanding faculty
researchers, facility tours, and of course, a great time in beautiful
British Columbia.

Students must apply and be chosen to attend RSR. Participation is
limited to 120 students from Canada (regional limits apply), with
special guests from approved international partner universities (list to
be posted soon). The RSR registration fee is $100 which covers on-campus
accommodation (three nights), food and other event costs. Every selected
participant will also be eligible to receive travel support of up to
$500 (fixed rates depending on residence by province).

The RSR online application will open on May 10th 2010. Application
deadline is Monday, June 14th, at 4pm PDT.

We kindly request your help in promoting this opportunity to interested
students and colleagues in sciences, engineering and social sciences.
Please forward and post to websites. Application opens May 10th. Thank you!
