If you listen to David Suzuki, he will tell you that you need to eat less
meat to help sustain the supply of grains we do have. Why feed good grain
to the cows, chickens, and other animals, when it can be used to sustain
more people over a longer period of time! It's all on his website:

It does not, unsurprisingly. The emphasis on meat seems to be less and
less and grains seem to be more and more with every revision, though -- I
wonder if eating in line with the Food Guide has become cheaper over time?

Also, they are working on different languages and cultural adaptations, so
they are making some effort to reach beyond middle-class white folks.
