This is a tricky issue. On one hand health care spending is not
particularly out of control, on the other hand it is increasingly being
given to private firms with little accountability across the entire system.
I am sympathic to the message put out by the Ontario Health Coalition:
[right below]. I am more immediately concerned about the health care
discourse crowding out the broader "health policy" conversation that
includes the social determinants of health.

Ontario Action Item:
To ensure that the Ontario government hears our key messages, please take a
minute to contact Dalton McGuinty at his office (contact information
below).

Key messages:
- we are disappointed that he is breaking his election promise to stop
for-profit health care. We want him to live up to that promise.
- we want him to support strings and standards attached to funding of
healthcare
- we want the principles of the Canada Health Act to be enforced and to
cover any new homecare & pharmacare programs
- we want him to ensure home support services are covered publicly in
Ontario
- we want to see meaningful cost controls for drugs
