Dear Click4HP,
The single-visit approach (SVA) to cervical cancer prevention (also referred to as the "See-and-Treat" approach) currently involves visual inspection of the cervix with acetic acid wash (VIA) and treatment of precancerous lesions with cryotherapy. Pathfinder International's Clinical Standards of Practice (SOP) and Counseling Guide is designed to be used by physicians, nurses, midwives, and health officers who provide cervical cancer prevention services using the single-visit approach. This document was originally developed by Pathfinder International for the CDC-funded Prevention of Cervical Cancer in HIV-Positive Women in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Addis Tesfa Project). The Clinical SOPs and Counseling Guide are in alignment with international standards of care for the SVA and aim to standardize quality of care among participating health care providers and their affiliated health facilities.
