Alberta Social and Health Equity Network - JOB POSTING

Position Title:  ASHEN Coordinator
Closing Date:    August 12, 2005
Employment Status: Contract, 0.5 FTE
Timeline:	September 2005 - February 2006 
		(funding being sought to extend the position Sept.
2005-Sept. 2006)

Structure:	Co-Chairs, ASHEN Steering Committee

Position Summary:                 

The Coordinator will;
*        Support the development of the Alberta Social and Health Equity
Network through the coordination of activities and liaison with Network
members 
*        Be the primary Network contact and support for related local
activities and groups throughout the province
*        Be an information and liaison bridge to other networks and
sectors involved in like-minded activities, e.g. PIA, ACEDN, etc. 
*        Coordinate and facilitate activities throughout the province to
support the development of a draft Alberta Charter on Social Development
*        Assist in the evaluation of the Network development process and
develop reporting mechanisms to assess the outcomes of the process
*        Report to the ASHEN co-chairs on a day-to-day basis for
direction and support and communicate to Network members at meetings and
between meetings as required

Key Tasks and Expectations:

 Coordination
*        Identify local community leaders within Alberta to be "lead"
contacts in each region for the Network.
*        Utilize the community leaders to enhance membership within the
Network
*        Provide key contact to inquiries regarding the Network or
interest in membership
 
Capacity Building
*        Help local organizations secure the resources they need to
better understand the social determinants of health, especially as the
factors relate to their community  
*        Work with local organizations to help plan and host 6-10
community forums throughout the province on Health and Social Equity in
Alberta 
*        Help to develop a presentation template for use in the
community forums
*        Provide guidance and show leadership (as necessary) when
supporting local community leaders in addressing the SDOH
 
Reporting
*        Document personal experiences and reflections in the
development process of the Network and Charter
*        Summarize the results of the local community forums 
*        Compile information from community forums, the environmental
scan and Reality Check conference to help in the development of the
draft Alberta Charter on Social Development

Evaluation
*        Share all documented information about the development of the
Network and Charter with the team of evaluators
*        Assist evaluators in summarizing and analyzing the information,
as well as in documenting the lessons learned and recommendations
 
Deliverable
*        Draft Alberta Charter of Social Development ready for review
and adoption by April 2006
