KEEP UP THE PRESSURE ON THE PREMIER TO END THE NCBS CLAWBACK
The Premier's office is overflowing with Hands offpostcards!
Since January, the Hands off! Campaign has mailed out over 12,000
postcards to supporters. On Feb. 21st, supporters in Toronto
gathered signatures on hundreds of postcards in just one hour outside the
Dufferin and Broadview subway stations. More postcard blitzes are
happening across the province. So get your postcards into the Premier as
quickly as you can! (The address is on the postcards.)
The Toronto Star also continues to call on the Premier to keep his promise
to end the clawback of the National Child Benefit Supplement.
If you see an article on poverty in your local newspaper, write a
letter-to-the editor.

Tell the Premier that an Ontario Child Benefit must end the NCBS Clawback
The Ontario Government is very seriously considering announcing a new
Ontario Child Benefit in the upcoming provincial budget, expected in late
March / early April. This new benefit would go to both the working poor
and families on social assistance and would be the first step in what will
be broader social assistance reform. The creation of a new Ontario Child
Benefit could affect the Hands off! campaign and our fight to end the
clawback of the National Child Benefit Supplement. Make sure you know what
the Ontario Child Benefit is and how it affects families on social
assistance.
Then send a letter to the Premier telling him that an Ontario Child
Benefit must end the clawback of the National Child Benefit Supplement
from families on social assistance. This means that the incomes of
families on OW and ODSP must increase by the amount of the current
clawback, approximately $122/month per child. Don't forget to mail a copy
of the letter to Finance Minister Greg Sorbara.
