Michael,

Here are a few resources that I hope you will find useful. Overall, the area of community engagement in health/health care requires much more attention, so I'm sure many of us will be pleased to see your paper added to the limited body of work that's out there.

1. Look at John Church et al. multi-province study on 'citizen' participation in health. A great resource, although I wish they would have favoured 'community' over 'citizen', since the latter has some troubling implications. Here's a link: http://www.chps.ualberta.ca/cppp.cfm

2. In 2006, our organization commissioned a lit review and report on trends in community engagement/governance in health care. I have attached the report, whose contents and list of references may also prove helpful. Please cite AOHC as source if you decide to use any of this.

3. WHO European office seems to be ahead of the WHO curve in terms of UN level thinking on this issue, so you may also wish to consult with someone there.

Hope this is all helpful.

Cheers,
Scott

Subject: [SDOH] Any research out there on community participation and the SDOH?

Good day folks,

I'm wondering if people might be willing to share any information
regarding community participation/involvement and its connection to
the SDOH.

I'm working on a paper regarding informal learning and the SDOH, and I
have seen reference to community participation as a form of informal
learning so I would like to explore it just a little more.

Any tips will be appreciated!

Michael
