A  shorter version of a great dissertation paper written by psychologist 
Jason Seidel will be published in June in The Bulletin of the Menninger
Clinic. It is called  "Experience is a Biochemical Intervention."  It'll be 
in Vol 69(2), 193-207. It updates a few of the issues/data in the big
older paper.

The original thesis is here but the formatting is a problem (there are quite 
a number of places where the pdf version of the file is unreadable).
Jason might be willing to send this in document format if you write him and 
ask.
