Position Announcement: Associate Director.

The Southeast Community Research Center (SCRC), an Innovative research and
action institution based in Atlanta, GA, seeks applications for the position of
Associate Director (See: www.CBPR.org). The Associate Director will divide
her/his time between two primary task sets: Onsite management (65% FTE) and
program coordination (35% FTE). Working with the Director, the successful
applicant will combine effective organizational leadership with collaborative
decision-making approaches and a commitment to community-centered practices to
achieve social justice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Onsite management: oversee day-to-day activities of the SCRC. Working with
the staff, the AD will lead the effort to enhance organizational effectiveness
and sustainability. The AD is responsible for day-to-day personnel, budgetary
and physical plant operations.

2. Program Coordination: working in a collaborative environment, provide
leadership in planning, project oversight, and evaluation of SCRC projects. The
AD will work with project staff to develop quarterly objectives, to assess and
facilitate project implementation, and to lead program evaluation.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
The SCRC is a community-based research center that promotes, facilitates, and
implements participatory action and research to improve quality of life and to
promote social and economic justice in the Southeast and across the U.S.
We employ popular education and participatory methods to enhance community
expertise and to create community-researcher partnerships on health,
environmental and social/economic justice projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Successful applicant will possess:
1.	Strong management skills in personnel and budget matters.
2.	A creative and aggressive problem-solving approach on social justice
projects.
3.	Excellent writing skills (academic, popular) on one or more of the following
topics: research methods, science and popular education, social and cultural
movements of the south/US, community/university partnerships.
4.	Experience and desire to present information in public forums.
5.	Strong computer skills—MS Office, Web-tools, and databases.
6.	A proven record of commitment in one or more movement areas: social justice,
popular education, community development, democracy building, public health, or
environmental justice.
7.	Commitment to working for social and economic justice for all peoples.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional, but not required, skills or experiences will include:
1.	Participatory or collaborative approaches to research, e.g., CBPR, action
research, popular education, international development.
2.	Research methods—web-based and field-based
3.	Working with communities of color and/or low income communities in the South.

Compensation:
