Selected Finding:
"There was no clear relationship between women’s socioeconomic status
and whether they had surgery for ovarian cancer. However, those living
in regions with the lowest neighbourhood income were less likely than
all others to have ovarian cancer-related surgery." (duh??????)
This is a most damaging report and while it is specific to Ontario,
Canada, I am firm in my believe (from available research), that this is
a global issue. Specific to this report, however, and to each and every
single policy maker including those who either are responsible for
ovarian cancer care, at all levels, or those who purport to support
and/or care for ovarian cancer women, it is obvious that there is a need
to self-evaluate the lack of effectiveness both as individuals and at
the organizational level. This report was completed during
good economic times, so funding/$$ cannot be used as an excuse.
