In New Zealand a recent reform of primary care saw the establishment of
Primary Health Organizations as the basis for organizing primary care.
Among other things, these organizations have responsibility for health
promotion to their enrolled population. People such as Ngaire (earlier
response to the original email) are undertaking these roles. You might
find it useful to contact people from several of the PHos as they will
have different approaches and be at different places in the
implementation of these activities in the primary care setting.

Kia ora Jennifer

I am a health promoter working within a primary health organisation in
New Zealand. I'm finding the 'role' evolving over time - biggest
challenge is engaging with general practice. My email is below - if you
want you could email me separate to this list to discuss this more. I
would be keen to see what information you've already got - and what else
you uncover.

Subject: [SDOH] health promotion in primary care

I am looking into the role of a health promoter, health educator,
community developer (or other related roles) within primary care.

Can anyone point me in the direction of primary care organizations that
have such roles? I am already familiar with community health centre
health promotion roles within Canada are there any others our there?

Thanks,
Jennifer Boyko
