What a relief to be past another December!
One way of dealing with the holidays is to work through them. Ergo, a new
page has been added to the WISE website and the latest version of WISE Notes
has just been completed, which is also accessible from our website.
Included in WISE Notes:
* NEW! Workshops for Volunteers, Social Service & Health Professionals
With the success of WISE's Scarlet Letter Campaign and recognition by
academics, researchers and government officials that insights from the lived
experience are vital to the cause of addressing poverty, WISE is developing
workshops for people who work with women in poverty and their families.
"From the Other Side" workshops will examine the view from the
perspective of women living in poverty and propose solutions to address
imbalances in the doctor/patient, worker/client, or provider/consumer
relationship...
* Scarlet Letter Campaign Update - Workshops for women in poverty
Doing advocacy creates a win-win situation. The target issue undergoes
change and the people advocating for change are uplifted in the process.
Through WISE Scarlet Letter Campaign workshops, women in poverty learn of
their unique position to make the most difference and in recognizing this,
their self-esteem rises and they know their own power...
Among other headlines:
* WISE Presentations - Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto
* WISE Participates in Cowichan Valley Housing Initiative
* WISE Website Update - What we do
* WISE Book Update - First printing sold, more ordered
* Featured Link - The Revolutionary Knitting Circle
The new page and WISE Notes are linked directly from the WISE home page.
Next up, a new brochure!
