       Deadline for submissions: July 29, 2005                              
       Theme: Achieving Social Justice in Urban Communities                 
                                                                            
       You are invited to submit research abstracts related to the          
       conference theme, 60;Achieving Social Justice in Urban               
       Communities61;, and particularly in relation to the following focus  
       areas as outlined in the Call for Abstracts:                         
                                                                            
       • Conceptualizing and measuring social justice                       
       • Environmental justice                                              
       • Healthcare availability and access                                 
       • Health status of disadvantaged populations                         
       • International perspectives on urban health                         
       • Interventions to improve the health of urban communities           
       • Models of community-based participatory research                   
       • Policies promoting social justice                                  
                                                                            
       COMMUNITY STREAM FOR ABSTRACTS                                       
                                                                            
       Community members/organizations are particularly encouraged to       
       submit abstracts related to community-based participatory research   
       or any of the focus areas listed above. Abstracts submitted by       
       community members/organizations will be reviewed by persons with     
       appropriate knowledge, expertise, and community research experience. 
                                                                            
       When you submit your abstract online, you will have the option of    
       choosing whether you wish your abstract to be reviewed under the     
       Academic Stream; or the Community Stream. Consider submitting to the 
       Community Stream particularly if your abstract reflects research     
       that was carried out in response to a community-identified priority, 
       meaningfully involved community members in all aspects of the        
       research process, and was methodologically rigorous and
