CALL FOR PAPERS
RELATIONAL APPROACHES TO SOCIAL CLASS: BEYOND "SES" AND "GRADIENTS"
An upcoming special issue of the International Journal of Health
Services will be devoted to relational approaches to social class, a
theoretical approach that goes beyond simple ranks of social
attributes (income, status) by focussing on social relations of
production (e.g., employer, worker, manager, supervisor, the class
process).
This special issue seeks papers that advance the literature on social
class in population health by addressing how relational approaches to
social class can explain social inequalities in health. Empirical
contributions will be preferred but theoretical and review papers may
also be considered.
Contributions are sought where class can help explain health
inequalities in areas such as health services, health policy,
evaluation, chronic illness, mental health, welfare state, racial,
ethnic, immigrant and gender inequalities.
The International Journal of Health Services is a peer-reviewed
journal. All submissions should be sent to the email addresses of the
guest editors below. Please include indication in your cover letter
that you wish the article to be considered for the "Special issue on
Social Class".
For inquiries on the special issue on social class, please contact the
guest editors.
The closing date for submissions is October 1, 2010.
