Boy, did I get it wrong!  Having just completed a volume on "Poverty and
Policy in Canada" I had concluded that incomes were stgnating for 60% of
Canadians, increasing proportions of Canadians living in poverty were being
concentrated in urban neighbourhoods, and Canada's health and quality of
life profiles were declining in international comparison. I thought this
was supported by data from the Conference Board of Canada showing Canada's
economic perforance was slipping badly in relation to northern European
nations.  Thank you Globe and Mail for your editorial showing that we are
doing just fine!
