Dear SDOH colleagues,

One of the cornerstone responsibilities of all governments is to safeguard its
citizens by protecting them from the dangers of infectious diseases and
environmental risks, and promoting good health practices. After extensive
consultation within the Province and external research into the practices of
the worlds most respected public health protection organizations, Ontario is
taking the next step forward in the protection of its citizens. Launching the
Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion presents an opportunity to
build an organization through which Ontario can strengthen both public health
capacity and confidence.

If you recognize the importance of the mission and are energized by the
responsibility associated with being a Board Member, here is a unique
opportunity to take a leadership role.

The legislation to create the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and
Promotion has been passed by the Ontario Legislature. The Ontario government is
now proceeding to establish the agency, including a search for board members.

The Ontario government's vision for the Ontario Agency for Health Protection
and Promotion is for it to become an internationally recognized centre of
expertise dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of all Ontarians
through the application and advancement of science and knowledge. As the new
Board is assembled, it will assume strategic stewardship of this public
commitment and public trust. Collectively, the Board will contribute a breadth
of backgrounds, values and leadership skills that represent the diversity and
strengths of the Province. Previous board governance experience is essential.

If you wish to nominate someone or put your own name forward for consideration
as a Board Member, please contact Paul Stanley or Tanya Todorovic at
