As a South African working in the UK I offer this:
It's not what they DO, but what they don't do that counts!
Companies must learn NOT to abuse work-permit/immigrant workers.
It isn't only the unskilled migrant workers who suffer abuse.
Offer us the same pay as your own citizens, don't expect more overtime,
don't expect overtime unpaid worked from home, provide us with childcare
funding (the hosting govt doesn't give us child tax benefit), offer to help
with relocation, consider us for promotions not our juniors just because
they are locals...
In short, employers should stop saying "just be thankful I sponsor your work
permit, now do what I say or else..."
