Hi Leah,
I am coordinating a 'universal' mental health promotion/early identification program for young adolescents (Healthy Transitions), that has recently received funding from Ontario's Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health at CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario). A working group representing a broad spectrum of community professionals (mental health, community/youth development, education, public health/ health promotion) initiated the project in 1999, beginning with an environmental scan and focus groups with youth, parents, teachers and service providers. We completed a small pilot of the program in the spring of 2004. If all goes as planned, we will be piloting the program in 3 Ottawa schools this fall. We are developing components for youth, teachers and parents. If this is the kind of program you were wanting more information about, please contact me directly. Good luck with your report!
