I came across this on another listserv. Perhaps it's a chance for us to
provide some meaningful input. --Ocean

http://www.patientsandconsumers.org/

Through a grant from the Office of the Voluntary Sector, the Best Medicines
Coalition and The Arthritis Society have formed a project advisory committee
including Canadian not-for-profit, health charity and patient advocacy
groups to develop a model for patient/consumer involvement in health policy.

As part of this initiative, we have developed a survey that will help to:
develop or adapt a framework or model for patients' and consumers'
involvement in Health Canada's and the Public Health Agency's regulatory or
policy decision-making processes; identify and address barriers and
challenges to patient and stakeholder involvement in government
decision-making processes and advisory committees; build capacity through
training patient/consumer organizations to become prepared to implement the
framework; evaluate the process of having patient and consumer groups
involved in developing the framework and being involved in training.

Through this survey, our goal is to collect input from as many stakeholders
as possible.

Please take a few minutes to participate in the following survey as your
input is very important to the process.

All responses will be kept confidential. You will not be identified
personally in any publication or communication resulting from the study. The
results of this survey will be reported as general information only.

A report detailing the survey results will be made public in the Spring of
2006 and posted on this site.

Thank you,
Dr. Kathy Kovacs-Burns, Project Researcher
