FAMILY COURT DIVERSION PROJECT

A community-based research project to develop a collaborative response to understanding and appropriate actions to address the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal women involved in the child protection system.

CONTRACT POSITIONS - RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. invites applications from qualified researcher assistants to assist in a community-based research study to develop a collaborative response to understanding and developing appropriate actions to address the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal women involved in the child protection system. Ka Ni Kanichihk will be contracting two research assistants for the project.  

This project will begin January 03, 2006 and the research assistants must commit to 15 months and up to 10 hours/week to conduct the project.  This is a contract position.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

*	demonstrated experience in qualitative research methods, including interviewing, literature reviews, and focus group facilitation
*	experience in research with Aboriginal women and agencies is preferred
experience with qualitative data analysis (QSR N6 software) would be an asset
*	sensitivity to and awareness of Aboriginal women's issues, traditional systems and cultural practices
*	experience with judicial systems and child protection would be an asset
*	awareness of confidentiality issues
*	understand and monitor safety and retention protocols
*	organized and self-motivated to complete tasks

Priority will be given to applicants who are Aboriginal.

The incumbent will report to the Project Researcher and the Project Steering Committee. Pay is commensurate with education and experience.
