Association of Ontario Health Centres Conference 2006 June 7th-9th –
Kingston, Ontario
Paths of Inequity, Vehicles for Change
Taking Action on the Social Determinants of Health
Since 1983 the Annual Conference of the Association of Ontario Health
Centres (AOHC) has provided an important opportunity to examine health
concerns and challenges addressed by Community Health Centres (CHCs),
Aboriginal Health Access Centres (AHACs) and their partners at local,
provincial, and national levels.
The 24th Annual AOHC Conference — Paths of Inequity, Vehicles for Change:
Taking Action on the Social Determinants of Health — takes place from June
7-9, 2006, at the Ambassador Conference Resort in Kingston, Ontario.
In the spirit of an expanded conference mission for 2006 and beyond, the
AOHC looks forward to the participation of provincial, national, and
international delegates who will gather to address the broad range of
social determinants that affect individual and population health. Topics
explored through plenary and workshop sessions will include:
• Income inequality
• Social inclusion and exclusion, including the impact of oppression
related to race, ethnicity, language, class, sex/gender, disability,
sexual orientation, immigrant status and/or religion
• Employment, job security, and working conditions
• Contribution of the social economy, including access to social
services and health care
• Early childhood care
• Education and literacy
• Food security
• Housing/shelter
Join us in June 2006 to accelerate local and global momentum being gained
through mechanisms such as the World Health Organization’s Commission on
Social Determinants of Health. Your participation will enhance collective
efforts...
