I enjoy the jocularity, thanks for sharing Greta!

I really liked your joke, and laughed out loud when I read it. However,
there's some fallacy in the conclusion I would like to comment on -
being the literalist that I am:

Canadian, British and American societies are comprised of persons who
are from diverse cultural backgrounds and who speak multiple languages.
Canada, in fact * maintains an official bilingual National identity; and
hosts vibrant multi-lingual communities in every Canadian city. I live
and work in downtown Toronto and have heard three languages other than
English spoken around me today alone!

So perhaps, I would suggest * that it is not speaking English that
results in increased probability of myocardial infarction - but is
instead the prolonged exposure to English language mass-media that
infuses inter-generational acculturation, activity and behaviours
towards socially and physically sedentary lifestyles, effectively
clogging the heart muscle; and perpetuating related somatic, mind, and
spirit attacks.

Hi all,
Whilst looking for an appropriate 'political' joke for my
toastmasters meeting yesterday, I found the following , which is (or
seems to be) somehow related to the present discussion, and something to
ponder. So here goes:

  What Ails Ya?
The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than
the Canadians, British or Americans.
The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than
the Canadians, British or Americans.
The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks
than the Canadians, British or Americans.
The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer
heart attacks than the Canadians, British or Americans.
The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and
suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British or Americans.
Ukrainians drink a lot of vodka, eat a lot of perogies, cabbage rolls
and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British or Americans.

  CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills
you.
or maybe there's another reason (Italics mine) ... to be identified
  Greta
