I am stunned at the blanket endorsement of a dichotomy between community 
and academy. For folks who are participating in a broadly systemic 
understanding of the dynamics of health, the willingness to drive one's 
sake into the ground on one side of an issue or another is astounding 
and perplexing.

It is, as I perceive it, the antithesis of a field model/understanding 
of health. To think that one dynamic that affect health can be separated 
from another with little or no consequences is a profound 
misunderstanding of the determinants of health.
