RECENT PUBLICATIONS

§     Work-Life Balance.  In "Toward Squaring the Circle: Work-Life Balance
and the Implications for Individuals, Firms and Public Policy," Richard
Chaykowski notes that, while the majority is satisfied, work-life conflict
is a concern for a significant minorty of workers.

§     Fiscal Federalism.  In presentation entitled "National
Interest/Provincial Jurisdiction" at the June 14 Canada 2020 conference in
Mont-Tremblant, IRPP Senior Scholar Thomas J. Courchene argues that
improving fiscal balance in the federation is the key to relieving tensions
between national priorities and provincial jurisdiction.

§     Political Parties.  Two studies, "The Shifting Place of Political
Parties in Canadian Public Life" by R. Kenneth Carty and "Are Canadian
Political Parties Empty Vessels? Membership, Engagement and Policy
Capacity" by William Cross and Lisa Young, look at the causes of and
potential solutions to declining party membership and citizens' engagement
in democratic life in Canada.
