CIHI only highlights PART of the picture, and the narrowist part at that.  
The issue of suicide for example among rural Canadians leaves a lot to be 
discussed, especially the Aboriginal component with a different and broad 
set of determinants that must be discussed in relation to this issue.  I 
live in rural Ontario and the only good thing that this reports demonstrates 
is the lack of health sciences research, including the determinants of 
health, on rural living, health and community.  Perhaps we can save CIHI 
some research and quite possibly accurately predict the deterioration in 
health outcomes when (let's hope "if") Toronto's garbage does indeed become 
St. Thomas and London's problem.  What about knowledge mobilization and 
transfer for good research to inform good policy and health outcomes for 
rural/northern/remote Canadians?
