University of Saskatchewan
Centennial Chair in Public Policy

The University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a newly established
Centennial Chair in Public Policy. The Chair will provide leadership and
vision to establish and promote excellence in interdisciplinary research
and graduate student training in an area fundamental to the mission of a
newly created School of Public Policy. The School’s goal is to be a leader
among public policy schools in Canada and serve as a provincial, national,
and international focal point for key policy issues. Celebrating the
University’s Centennial, the Chair signals the significance of the
University’s commitment to excellence in both research and teaching.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent and be a
nationally/internationally recognized scholar with a strong record of
attracting competitively awarded research funding and promoting
interdisciplinary research and cross-disciplinary partnerships.
Applications are welcome from outstanding candidates in all
fields/disciplines with a public policy focus. Areas of special strength
and interest in the new School include: health, education, and social
policy; the social economy; agriculture and the new rural economy; science
and trade policy; and resources and the environment. The School’s
overarching theme is “innovation policy”.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenured or tenure-track
position at a rank commensurate with qualifications, and the Chair will be
awarded for a five-year period, renewable once. The successful candidate
will assume the position on or before July 1, 2008.

The University of Saskatchewan is committed to employment equity, welcomes
diversity in the workplace, and encourages applications from all qualified
individuals, including women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal
persons, and persons with disabilities. All qualified candidates are
encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be
given priority.
