Dear colleagues

I am honoured to have my book included in this list
of recommendations. However, I suspect that what you are
all after is a far more critical approach. My book was
intended merely to describe some epi. ideas to social
scientists and social science ideas to fledgling
public health and health policy students or interested
'lay' people rather than to reflect on them in the way
that others have. I look forward very much to reading or
re-reading many of the useful references in this exchange.
But after over 8 years in a department of epidemiology
dare I say that my critical edge is long ago blunted.
